Stanford Study Shows Weed Smokers Have More Sex

Some researchers have better jobs than others. While some of them have to freeze their toes and other extremities in the arctic, or even literally watch paint dry (someone must have had to do it at some point), others get to study two of the greatest pastimes ever conceived by man: weed and sex.

A handful of such lucky eggheads at Stanford recently proved something that might counteract the old “gateway drug” theory of marijuana recently spoken by our esteemed Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Or, more precisely, they proved that cannabis might be a gateway to some pretty positive things, like a healthy, active sex life.

According to a press release on the Stanford study, “Frequent marijuana use doesn’t seem to impair sexual motivation or performance. If anything, it’s associated with increased coital frequency.”

And just how much more frequently are cannabis users getting coital than their non-imbibing counterparts? About 20% more, not a bad kick.

The researchers looked at data from the National Survey of Family Growth, sponsored by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. They obtained information on  “28,176 women averaging 29.9 years of age and 22,943 men whose average age was 29.5,” then cross-referenced these respondents’ smoking habits with their boning habits.

They found that 14.5% of women reported using cannabis in the last year and that “Women denying marijuana use in the past year, for example, had sex on average 6.0 times during the previous four weeks, whereas that number was 7.1 for daily pot users.”

Meanwhile, 24.5% of men said they get lit. The ones who like it loud got busy an average of 6.9 times in the last four weeks, while the ones that don’t only did the deed 5.6 times.

Now, the study was limited in some ways. For instance, it only takes into account heterosexual intercourse, leaving out pretty large parts of the whole sexual experience, including oral sex and all homosexual sex. The study also stresses that its findings don’t yet show that smoking weed causes someone to have more sex, or the other way around. Only that the same people who use cannabis also get more frequently freaky.
