Eight Russians have been arrested after advertising the sale of marijuana through Facebook on the Thai island of Koh Phangan. Police say the Russians did not realize marijuana was illegal to sell in the area, according to an article in Phuket Wan.

Local authorities raided the home of the 8 individuals in the middle of a party they were throwing, and arrested two of them while the remaining six are being held. Through a translator, the alleged dealers told police that they had posted cannabis sales on a “Samui Sell and Buy” Facebook page, and did not realize that either possession or sale was illegal in the country.

These Russians, most of them women according to Phuket Wan, are having a bummer of a holiday, as the article says authorities confiscated “a quantity of the dried drug and a bamboo bong used for smoking it.”
