Although munchies mean more calories, they don’t mean fatter people.  A study published in the American Journal of Medicine confirms that marijuana users are skinnier than average Americans, with a better metabolism, and a healthier reaction to sugars. The study examined 4,500 Americans: 579 were active marijuana users, 2,000 had smoked pot in the past, and 2,000 had never used marijuana. From those, researchers studied how each person’s body reacted to eating sugars. They found that marijuana users were actually healthier than nonusers – particularly when it came to their response to sugar.

In other words…the munchies build a higher tolerance to sugar. Or maybe your metabolism is just like many of us: it works better when it’s high.
