51% is still a majority. And that’s the percent of American registered voters who want legalized marijuana, according to a recent poll conducted by the operatically conservative news network Fox News, in conjunction with research firms Anderson Robbins and Shaw & Company. The results are based on a random sample of 1,012 registered voters across the nation.
Last year’s poll saw those in favor of legalization at 50%, but we’ve now climbed into the majority. Voters under 35 were shown to be 15% more likely to be in favor of legalization (at 54%) that those 65 and over (39%). And men were found to be 10% more likely to be in favor of it than women, with the sexess supporting it 56% and 46% respectively. 59% or Republicans are not into it, while 63% of Democrats and 53% of independents are.
There more polls nearly every week showing that the majority of the U.S. population dig the shit out of legalizing weed, so we were hesitant to even report on this. Except that it’s Fox News. Of course, being Fox News, they also reported in the same study that a slim majority of American voters don’t support gay marriage. Oh, Foxy.
