Gary Johnson stirred the pot at last week’s Conservative Political Action Conference when he faked a marijuana cardiac arrest after U.S representative Marie Buerkle announced that smokers are 5 times more likely to suffer heart attacks.
Johnson, the Former New Mexico Governor and 2012 Libertarian Presidential Candidate who has many supporters in the marijuana community, stated in a recent interview with the Daily Caller that he predicts that 2016 will be the year when marijuana legalisation sweeps across America.
Johnson proceeded to say that 60% of American’s want it to be legalized. He also believes that California will be the next one to push the law through and that 25 more states may follow in their footsteps. These numbers are much higher than those released just last month by ArcView Market Research. They predicted that 18 states would have recreational pot markets by the year 2020, however when you consider the movement’s current momentum, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Congress reconsidered their standings on prohibition.
Johnson has also announced that he plans to run for president in the year 2016. When he ran in 2012, he had over 1.3 million, more than any alternative candidate has achieved in the last 10 years, so some even think Johnson might have a shot at the presidency.
