Chalice California has just dropped the lineup for this year’s festival and it’s going to be a hell of a place to “act a fool.” That’s because not only is rapper/songwriter/movie star Ludacris set to rock the joint, but for the very first time the renowned festival is going to permit on-site cannabis sales and consumption.
Along with Luda, the festival’s lineup will include Bassnectar, Sizzla, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Curren$y, Pharcyde, Cut Chemist, and Thriftworks.
That’s just the icing on the cake. The real stars of Chalice are the glass makers, and this year artists including DWreck, Mothership, JD Maplesden, Mr. Gray, and JAG x SALT are scheduled to appear, alongside graffiti artists such as CBS Crew, Mark Dean Veca, and Kenny Scharf.
And, of course, there will be the head honcho of Chalice and the man behind Hitman Glass, Dougie Dracup. “This year’s Chalice will make history in several ways,” Dougie told Leafly. “We’ve always been a leader, and we plan to lead by example at Chalice 2018. We know all eyes will be on us, and we have no doubt that we will set the bar for the future of legal cannabis and its relationship with music and arts festivals.”
Over the last several years, Chalice has grown from being that cool indie alternative to Cannabis Cup to being that cool monster behemoth that almost overshadows High Times’ festival. Dougie says he expects more than 45,000 appreciators of hash, glass, and music at this year’s festival, up from just 5,500 in 2014.
All this and more will go down at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds in Victorville, California this July 13-15 (just barely overshooting 7/10). Tickets are on sale now for those over 21. A one day pass goes for $105-$115, a three-day pass is $165, and one can upgrade to a VIP pass for a little bit more over at chalicecalifronia.com.
