Junk food and cannabis are joining forces once again as Mondelez, the company behind Oreo, says it is preparing to make a new CBD-infused snack.

Mondelez is the company responsible for lots of legendary munchies like Oreos, Double Stuf Oreos, and Chocolate Double Stuf Oreos, but also a whole caravan of other all star names in the world of snacking, brands like Chips Ahoy!, Teddy Grahams, Ritz Crackers, Toblerone, and Fig Newtons. So just imagine what these culinary geniuses could do with a bit of cannabis extract at their disposal.

“Yes, we’re getting ready, but we obviously want to stay within what is legal and play it the right way,” Mondelez CEO Dirk Van de Put told the CNBC show Squawk on the Street.

According to CNBC, Van de Put said that their first move probably won’t be to infuse CBD into their best known snacks, saying the cannabinoid “might not be a fit for the company’s family brands.”

He did confirm, however, that the company is considering adding CBD to a lesser-known product, or maybe to create a brand new one.

Mondelez is just the latest junk food maker to jump on the cannabis bandwagon. Carl’s Jr marketed a CBD-infused burger on 4/20 and Coca-Cola was rumored to be looking into the weed game last year.

The concentrate flood gates opened in December, when President Trump signed the 2018 Farm Bill, legalizing hemp-derived CBD and all the mediocre production that was going to come with it.
