“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but seeds and stems can put them back together.” Sorry. My uncle visited the Dabs Mag office today and he really wanted his lame joke in here, so there it is. Hope you’re happy, Uncle Fred. If it were up to us, the lead would be something more like…

A new research study conducted by researchers at Tel Aviv University has found that CBD compounds can be effective in treating bone fractures, and may have proactive applications for increasing bone strength as well. The findings were published recently in the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research.

Cannabidiol was administered to rats suffering mid-femoral fractures. Uncle Fred would like us to add that the rats likely went through a month’s supply of cheese in their aftermath of their cannabis-ingestion. Good one.

Dr. Yankel Gabet of the Bone Research Laboratory in Tel Aviv was quoted regarding the study thusly on the university’s website: “We found CBD alone to be sufficiently effective in enhancing fracture healing,” meaning the psychoactive THC molecules aren’t necessary for the observed bone repair. He went on to describe CBD’s additional benefit of strengthening bones after the healing occurs, saying, “After being treated with CBD, the healed bone will be harder to break in the future.”

Now Uncle Fred wants to know how cannabis does with boner repair. And he’s laughing very hard. Let’s see. These guys say marijuana can help decrease the likelihood of erectile dysfunction, but these guys say it can cause impotence, so I guess that one’s a wash.

In more useful medical marijuana news, medical cannabis was recently found by Chinese researchers to have great possibilities in treating rheumatoid arthritis. But that doesn’t make Uncle Fred laugh, so I guess we’ll leave that one alone.
