To Pimp a Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar has just received its first week sale projections. The hip-hop album was expected to sell around 300,000 copies, however this could easily reach around 325,000 during its very first week of sales, according to Hits Daily Double.
The Sales Plus estimated sales figure, however, is between 350,000 and 375,000. Both estimates would make To Pimp A Butterfly the number one album in America when the sales figures for the next tally are released. They are due for release Wednesday.
Good Kid m.A.A.d City sold exactly 242,122 copies during the week of its launch in October 2012. There are many people that believe that the sales for this album may have been benefited by its release on Sunday March 15th, nine days before its scheduled release date. So fans were eager to get their hands on the album when they found out that it was to be released early.
The album was removed from iTunes on March 16th and streamed more than 9.6 million times on the audio player Spotify, including a couple times in the Dabs Mag office. To Pimp a Butterfly has already set a global record for most album streams in one day and has broken the current world record for Spotify.
