Hot off the tail of 2015’s dopest month for music releases, Lex Records announced today a new LP from gods of hip hop Flying Lotus and MF DOOM.

The album, to be called ‘Mask of the North Star,’ will feature appearances from some of the duo’s most frequent collaborators, like noted crate and cake digger Madlib, his cartoon counterpart/alter ego Quasimoto, soulchadelic belter Thundercat, and extra from ‘The Descent’/Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke–to name just a few.

FlyLo’s recent boom in popularity comes thanks in part to his featured station in RockStar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V (FlyLo FM), latest solo project ‘You’re Dead!’ (easily one of the best albums of 2014), and big-time features on new Kendrick Lamar album ‘To Pimp a Butterfly.’

DOOM, a perennial legend and force of pure nature, swooping from the shadows to tease the people with more musical madness like a Phantom of HipHopera, comes to us so rarely these days that when he does, all we can do is give thanks. Most recently he can be heard on last year’s ‘NehruvianDOOM’ (another best of 2014). A slightly greater output from the Man in the Mask over these past few years has us excited that maybe, just maybe, his Villainness is catching a new groove. At least we can hope.
