Tis the season for charitable acts of cannabis kindness and also for promotional tie-ins, and Uber and Lyft are doing a little bit of both this 4/20 in the form of a special holiday discount. In Denver, both behemoth rideshare services are offering discounts, as reported by The Cannabist. Both are doing so in collaboration with a mix of community non-profits and cannabis businesses.
Lyft, for their part is offering a 20% discount on any one ride in Denver up to $4.20 with the code 420DEN (good until May 30). Their partners in this have are of a pretty wide variety. On the one hand, they’re teaming up with the Colorado Departmentment of Transportation (CODT) and the Marijuana Industry Group. On the other, Super Troopers 2, which opens this Friday, is in on the promotion. The city’s huge 4/20 block party 420 On the Block is also taking part. You can get 20% off your ride to the party (though shouldn’t it be a discount on your way from the party if the idea is to cut down on impaired driving). The code for that discount is 420TB18.
Lyft also has another 4/20 promotion going in Vegas this year in conjunction with safe driving advocacy group Zero Fatalities and local dispensary Essence Cannabis.
Uber is teaming up with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), the Colorado State Police, and the dispensary Native Roots to get their discount on in a safe driving campaign called: “Take the high road this year, and don’t DUI!”
“Marijuana impaired driving is a 100% preventable,” Uber Safety Spokesperson Tracey Breeden said. “By providing people with safe ride options, we believe we are empowering people to make better, safer choices. With our technology, we want to help everyone have a safe 420 week.”
This is not the first year that Uber and Lyft have offered 4/20 discounts. They both ran extremely similar promotions last year.
